Get Free Money from CoinStar

Monday October 1, 2007

Rush to your nearest CoinStar machine . . . now through November 4th, CoinStar is offering a free $10 Amazon gift certificate when you cash in $30 or more in coins and use the money to buy an Amazon gift certificate. That's a quick 33 percent return on your money--and with Christmas less than three months away, the timing couldn't be better.

Coinstar skims off 10% for themselves, go to the bank and keep all of your money.

(2) Annie says:

CoinStar charges a hefty fee (about 9%) for changing coin to cash, therefore your return for this deal is not 33%.

(3) Frugalliving Guide says:

Actually, there’s no fee involved in this offer. When you take your earnings as a gift card, Coinstar waves the fee.

(5) J. says:

It’s true that you can only shop at Amazon with the gift certificate, but Amazon sells a huge variety of products- they often work in partnership with other retailers. I used Amazon to buy a specialty leather cleaner and car wax for my dad last year and at the same time bought 2 CDs for my brother.

Only Coinstar machine in our town is not participating! Check first, before you dump in a lot of coins.

(7) Janet says:

As a lifelong frugal person, I don’t equate ordering books online with frugality. This promotion may resonate
with people who save coins and use Amazon, but it’s not a frugals biggie.

Coinstar offers other giftcards besides from Amazon, though I don’t think this particular deal is reflected with the other cards. Choose from Amazon, Starbucks, Borders, iTunes, Circuit City, Pier 1, Linens&Things, Eddie Bauer, Cabela’s, KBToys, Old Navy (has great sales BTW), Timberland, DisneyShopping.com, Hollywood Video, or AMC.
