Did Black Friday Already Happen?

Wednesday November 7, 2007

I realize we're still a couple weeks away from the Black Friday sales, but you wouldn't know it if you thumbed through a sales flyer or walked through a store--those Christmas deals have landed. Here are just a couple of the current sales in case you missed them:

So what's your take on this new start to the Christmas season? Have you taken advantage of any of the deals? Are you waiting to see what Black Friday will bring? Avoiding all of the hoopla all together? Share your thoughts!

There isn’t any sale anywhere that could get me into stores on Black Friday. That’s madness that I don’t want to a part of. E

I plan to skip it altogether. I will be giving cash and bonds this year. Kids get more than they know what to do with. This year will be about spending quality time together.

Me too, no stores for me. Helps tremendously that our family has basically agreed to buy only for the little kids from here on out. We get together xmass eve and have a nice dinner and the kids open their gifts. No more mayhem or overcharging for our crowd.

I go to the Black Friday sales every year! It’s a traditional with me and my mom. Sometimes we don’t buy that much and other times we make several trips back to the car… but it’s always a good time with my mom!

I have 5 kids and a Christmas list for each of them, but I never see anything during Black Friday that’s on my list so it makes it pointless for me to go. I guess some stores do have some good deals, but if I don’t need it – it’s not really a good deal (to me). I’ve been finding a ton of deals online through Amazon, Deep Discount and lots of others. I’m hoping I can have my whole Christmas delivered to my door and I don’t have to go out into the madness at all!

Ok, at risk of getting loads of negative feedback here’s what I do: we don’t give Christmas gifts. We started having Fairy Day, which is New Years Day, many years ago. The kids decorate for Fairy Day, they get gifts from the Fairies and we eat until we can’t eat any more…and it’s all at sale prices. Trust me the kids don’t care if it’s December 25th or January 1st. We save a bundle and everyone is happy. Oh yes, I homeschool so I make a point of putting educational gifts in their piles (I also limit gifts to 8 each) and not once have I had a complaint or unused gift!
