Save Money on Haircuts

Wednesday February 20, 2008

Want to spend less on haircuts? Here's one way to make it happen:

Donate Hair and Get a Free Cut

Many salons host free haircut events to benefit Locks of Love and similar organizations. Locate one of these events in your area; donate your hair; and you'll help others while helping yourself to a free cut.

I totally love cutting my own hair, and it’s not all that hard if you opt for a simple style. I checked out the library and found some good step-by-step picture how-to books and even bought the one I liked best very cheap at Amazon. I no longer fool with color, never bother with a blow dryer and bought some old timey cheap plastic curlers at the dollar store. I don’t even use great scissors now (I do have a pair); found a small very sharp pair also at the dollar store. I get more compliments now than I ever did when I paid the big bucks on color, perms and styles at the shop. My hair is in great shape and I seldom even use a conditioner, and White Rain shampoo works fine for me. Natural is good. You can even watch how-to videos at You Tube for inspiration. Be brave, it’s fun if you don’t get too extreme at first. And my niece now saves a bundle by cutting/shaving her 3 men and does a great job.
