My son has been begging me to buy borax so that he can make some kind of slime. It’s nice to know what it’s really used for…I had no idea!

Borax works well as a cleaner. But its not good in the dishwasher there was a recipe I tried from the website to make a dishwashing detergent. It left a horriable film on my dishes. We tried it a few times and went right back to store bought

If you’re getting a film on your dishes after using the dish detergent recipe, I’d recommend cutting the detergent amount back. Newer, high-efficiency dishwashers use less water; and that could be the source of the problem.

I found online somewhere a dishwasher detergent mix of 2 parts Borax to 1 part WASHING Soda that works great, no residue. If you use BAKING soda you will get the residue. Also, if you are having problems finding washing soda make it! 1/2c baking soda baked in a 450 oven for 30 min will equal 1/2 washing soda.
