Frugal Hobbies: Do You Have One?
Hobbies have a reputation for being big money drains, but they aren't all that way. Some can actually be quite frugal and some can even save you money. Looking for a new frugal hobby to fill your time? Then, consider this idea:
Letterboxing
If the idea of treasure hunting sounds fun to you, give letterboxing a try. Here's how it works:
1. Start by visiting letterboxing.org for a list of letterboxes hidden in your area (the treasure).
2. Choose a box to hunt.
3. Then, follow the clues to the location of the box.
It's easy, free and fun!

I’m an amateur photographer. Since I have a digital camera, this is a hobby that basically costs nothing. I do sometimes print some of my best shots to frame them and use them as art in the house, but even then it’s cheaper than buying prints or a painting!
Letterboxing isn’t entirely free; there are start-up costs (granted, they are small ones). You’ll need a stamp, preferably one that you made, plus an unlined notebook and a stamp pad. It’ll run you around $20-30 total.
It is money well spent on an addicting hobby
