Target Bargain: Reusable Totes

Monday November 17, 2008

There weren't many stand out bargains in this week's Sunday paper, but here's one to report: Target is offering their reusable shopping totes (standard or compact size) 2 for $1 – that's half off the normal price!

My thought: buy a bunch, and use them in place of gift bags this holiday season.

Another heads up: Here locally, Target has started to offer 5-cents off of your purchase for each bag that you bring to the store – whether it's a tote bag or a plastic bag from a previous shopping trip. Check to see if the store closest to you is participating, and you may just add a new savings strategy to your arsenal.

I am boycotting Target now….I went into the store at 9:00 on Monday and they were sold out of a product that was on sale through the end of the week. This isn’t the first time, but it will be the last time for me for a long time. I do not think it is fair for retailers to advertise “big” and have very limited quantities. Then they wonder why we shop at the big-box stores? Target is notorious for doing this and I will spend my holiday money elsewhere, thank you.

Great idea about using them as gift bags. At $0.50 each, they are cheaper than gift bags (except I have a few years worth that I’m re-using stashed away). But I am doing a “green” gift basket for my parents this year and I want to include some nice reusable bags - these will be perfect!

Great idea! Thanks for the heads up :)
