Thanks for the ideas. The ice cream in a baggie sounds like fun. I am going to try it with my six year old. Here are a few more ideas that we do that don’t cost much to implement:

- Instant Backyard Waterslide: I turn the slide on our swing set into a water slide by placing the hose at the top and letting the kids slide down.

- Sandbox fun: Create some “dinosaur bones” out of homemade playdough (bake them in the oven until they dry) and then bury them in the sandbox and let the kids excavate them in their very own archeology dig.

- Another Sandbox Idea: Have the kids gather some rocks. Paint them gold and then bury them in the sandbox and let them treasure hunt like pirates.

- Go on a nature hike/scavenger hunt around the neighborhood or a local park. Give everyone a list of items to find such as a bird feather, pine cone, a black stone, etc. First one to find everything on their list wins.
