How to Rebate Like a Pro

Filling Out Rebate Forms

Attention to detail is just as important when it comes to filling out the rebate form.

Before you start filling anything out, read through the rebate offer once again (excessive I know), and look for any instructions that apply to the way that the form has to be filled out. Manufacturers frequently hire third-party companies to process rebates, and a portion of this company's job is to find reasons to reject your rebate, so it's your job to make sure this doesn't happen.

As you read through the offer, look for anything special that you'll have to do to fill out the offer to the manufacturer's specifications. For example, most rebates will specify that you print all information.

Determined to succeed? Here are several other specifications to look out for:

  • Does the offer need to be filled out in pen?
  • Does it have to be written in all caps?
  • Does it have to be hand-written
  • Does it require you to include an e-mail address or telephone number?
  • Does it require a street address, or will a PO Box work?
