Make Your Own Aftershave
Apple Cider Vinegar Aftershave Recipe

By Erin Huffstetler, About.com

Aftershave is a must-have for most men, but that doesn't mean it has to be a must-buy. Here's how to make your own aftershave at home:

What You Need:

  • Apple cider vinegar
  • Water
  • An empty bottle

What You Do:

Fill an empty bottle or container with equal parts apple cider vinegar and water. Shake to blend. Then, splash on your face after shaving just as you would with any other aftershave.

Why This Works:

Store-bought aftershave does four things: it acts as an antiseptic to clean out any cuts; it moisturizes the skin; it closes the pores; and it soothes razor burn. The acetic acid in vinegar is able to perform these same tasks at a fraction of the cost. Score one for vinegar!

Benefits of Using Apple Cider Vinegar Aftershave:

  • inexpensive
  • fragrance-free (once it dries)
  • dye-free
  • all natural
