Prep the Candle Mold

Insert and Seal the Wicks

Insert and Seal the Wicks

Now that you have a candle mold, it's time to prep it for use. . .

1) Start by threading a wick through one of the holes that you made in step one. To do this correctly, the wick clip (the metal disk on the end of the wick) should be on the inside of the mold, and just an inch or so of the wick should stick out through the hole.

2) When you have the wick in the proper position, place a bit of mold sealer or modeling clay/ play dough (the frugal approach) around the wick (as shown in the picture). This will hold the wick in place, and ensure that no wax leaks out through the holes. Repeat this procedure with the remaining three holes.

3) Then, prop the mold up on a bowl, with the open side facing up. This will ensure that the wicks remain in position.

4) Finish by spraying the inside of the mold with mold release spray or cooking oil (the frugal approach).

Note: To minimize mess, it's also a good idea to place your mold on top of a piece of wax paper.
