Your Favorite Source for Bargains:
Yardsales better than any other source, hands down. You have to be patient though, and not just buy what's there. I always have something in mind that I am looking for, whether it be jeans for my son or an ice cream maker. And I think it's important to remember that if you buy things you don't need just because they're cheap, you won't be saving money, and you will be cluttering up your life.
Your Best Bargain of All Times:
Wow, that is hard, probably the car that I bought last November. I knew what kind I wanted, and after a lot of searching, my husband and I found it. The car had just over 2,500 miles on it, and we paid half of what it would have cost new.
Your Best Money-Saving Tip:
Budget, budget, budget; and then stick to it! Simple to say, but hard to do. However, once you get used to it, you will love the results.
The Worst Money-Saving Advice You've Received:
I never received advice. That was the problem for the first 40 years of my life. I wish someone had told me how to save and budget money like we do our eight-year-old son. I would be so much further ahead now.
The Craziest Thing You Do to Save Money:
I don't think this is crazy, but people that know me socially would be shocked to find out that I hang my laundry to dry in my son's bathroom instead of using the dryer. We live in a townhouse; and therefore cannot hang it outside, but when I read that the dryer is the most expensive appliance to run, I started handging it over the tub.
What You're Doing Now to Save:
We set up a budget every month and stick to it. When we started doing that, we first spent two months tracking every single penny that we spent. We were shocked to see where money was being wasted. Now, while the recession is going on, we have peace of mind and no worries because we've set ourselves up to be financially secure.
