Homemade Meat Tenderizer

Using Vinegar to Tenderize Meat

By Erin Huffstetler, About.com

Unfortunately, cheap cuts of meat are often tough cuts of meat. So, what's a frugalite to do? Buy cheap and tenderize. Here's an ultra cheap meat tenderizer that'll treat you and your steaks right.

What You Do:

Add a tablespoon of white vinegar to your cooking liquids; and your roasts, stew meats and steaks will come out tender and juicy every time.

Why This Works:

The acetic acid in the vinegar breaks down meat fibers, making them more tender and flavorful.
