Here's a cheap broth substitute to use anytime you run out of broth or need to pinch your pennies a bit harder:

Prep Time: 5 minutes

Total Time: 5 minutes

  • 1 cup boiling water
  • 1 bouillion cube or 1 tsp bouillion granules

1. Add the bouillion cube or granules to the water and stir to combine.

2. Use in place of the broth called for in a recipe.

Yield: the equivalent of 1 cup of broth

chicken or beef broth, Member BeverlyJaneDay

it tickles me when I see the cans and ""cardboard"" boxes of broth that even my daughter brings home...even if it is Emeril's.....because what you are paying for is WATER!!! hello!! can you not get water from your kitchen sink?? or maybe you should be buying Evian...which incidentally is backwards for ""Niave"" duh...those little cubes also take up far less room in your cupboard, and guess what! they have instant bullion now! just like instant coffee! ARISE AND AWAKE AMERICA!! also you can take your white rice (or whatever) and toss in a bullion cube when it is cooking and you have ""beef flavored rice"" or ""chicken flavored"" and the instant boullion lets you also add other savory seasonings along with it, like cilantro, chives, pepper...don't add the salt...it is already there!
