What's Keeping You from Saving?

By Erin Huffstetler, About.com

Saving money is an essential part of the frugal lifestyle, so what's keeping you from doing it? Here are three of the most commonly cited reasons for not saving money, and some ways to work around them:

Not Enough Money

The bottom line: you're never going to have "enough" money; so don't wait for it to happen. Rework your budget to free up some cash; cut back on your spending; or find ways to bring in more money. Even if you're only able to find a few extra dollars each month, that's a few dollars more than you're saving now.

Too Much Debt

Is your debt load keeping you from saving? Then, it's time to make that debt disappear. Step up your debt repayment efforts; and get your net worth back on the plus side, where it belongs.

Don't Know How to Get Started

Saving money doesn't have to be a complicated thing. In fact, getting started can be as simple as throwing a handful of change into an empty jar, and calling it your savings fund. You just have to do it!
