No Thanks....
- I agree 100% with both the above comments! It is definitely like the Cash for Clunkers program, which was very poorly run. I also have to agree that the appliances are jacked up in prices. We went shopping for a refrigerator recently, and couldn't believe how expensive they are! Also they are big and bulky! I don't need a big fridge! We decided in the end to wait and hope for something better....but we won't hold our breath!

Who gets the stimulus?
- Answer: the retailers. Prices will get jacked up. Sales will be more stingy. Even cheaper, less reliable models will fill the low-cost void. Shoppers will appear in droves to scoop up these supposed bargains so they can get a tax rebate. Yet still, they will have saved no additional dollars in the end. Dangle a few dollars in front of many of us, and we won't even look at what it will cost us to get that money. Should I even bring up the impact to our landfills as even more appliances find there way to the trash heap? Glug.

Enough already
- This looks like a smaller scale "Cash for Clunkers" progam, which seemed to do more harm than good, and at the very least was poorly run. NO WAY...
