Is changing your own oil really that much cheaper? I considered this one time and didn’t think it was. I don’t remember the exact cost but when I compared the cost of changing my cars oil myself, 5 quarts of oil and an oil oil filter. It added up to being just a little cheaper than going to Wal-mart and having a basic oil change done.

Then you have to find someone who will dispose of the used oil for you.

I usually have coupons that allow me to get an oil changed for much less than I can do it myself.

I used to take my car to Wal-Mart for oil changes…until I had to wait 4 hours for a bloody oil change (if not longer). I think that it costs us about $10.00 to change our own oil vs. app. $20.00 at Wal-Mart.

There are early bird places for about $23.00…if I didn’t have my husband around to change the oil, it would definitely be done in a shop though…
