New Use for Old Jeans

Wednesday June 4, 2008

Old jeans are one thing (among many) that I can't bare to toss, so I'm always brainstorming new ways to repurpose them. My latest idea: turning an old pair of jeans into a skirt. If you have daughters, this is a great solution for all those jeans that end up with holey knees. Much cuter than patches, don't you think?

Another Use for Old Jeans:

I love working with old jeans. I recently made a fanny pack and a yoga bag from old jeans, and I even reused parts of an old kids’ backpack. You can see them on my blog at http://blog.amethistle.com
Enjoy!

The other day I saw a cute idea that would tie into making old jeans into a skirt for your little girl. Someone had taken girls jeans and cut them off right where the legs begin. They sewed on a fabric ruffle about 2 inches wide and sewed that bottom edge (of the jeans not the ruffle) shut. Then they put a zipper across where the waist band is and some thin straps to make a purse. It was sure cute! I think many little girls would love it!!
