Learn how to make your own gift bows from magazine pages, and impress friends and family with your frugal finesse.
Step 1:
Cut a magazine page into one-inch wide strips. You'll want at least six strips for a full bow.
Step 2:
Punch a hole one-half inch in from the end of each strip. Punch another hole at the center of each strip.
Hint: If you stack the strips on top of each other, you can punch all of your holes at once.
Step 3:
Thread the center hole of your first magazine strip onto a pipe cleaner with the good side facing down. Then, fold the ends over to thread the other two holes onto the pipe cleaner. Repeat with the remaining strips.
Step 4:
Select a button that coordinates nicely with your bow. Thread the pipe cleaner up through one of the button holes. Then, thread it back through the other button hole and all the way though the bow. Twist both ends of the pipe cleaner together behind the bow to secure. Trim off the excess. Your bow is now ready to use!
Tips:
- Metal brads can be used in place of the pipe cleaners and buttons
- Save your gift wrap scraps, and use them to make bows
